Fever Torch Liberty in 106–92 Statement Win

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever did not merely defeat the New York Liberty Tuesday night.

They blasted them.

Kelsey Mitchell scored 28 points, Caitlin Clark delivered 22 points and 10 assists, and the Fever overwhelmed the Liberty from beyond the arc in a commanding 106–92 victory at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Indiana connected on 16 of its 24 three point attempts, shooting a blistering 66.7 percent from deep. Eleven of those makes came during a scorching first half that New York simply could not contain.

Mitchell set the tone with 20 first half points. She attacked the Liberty from every level, punished slow defensive rotations and repeatedly made New York pay for allowing her even the smallest opening.

Clark directed the rest of the attack.

She stretched the defense with shots from well beyond the arc, created opportunities for her teammates and recorded her double double without allowing the Fever offense to lose its rhythm. Clark and Mitchell controlled the tempo and once again proved that Indiana’s backcourt can dismantle even the most accomplished teams in the league.

Aliyah Boston provided 17 points and seven rebounds, while Sophie Cunningham added 15 points and connected on five three pointers. Four Indiana starters scored at least 15 points as the Fever reached 100 for the sixth time this season.

That balance left New York without an answer.

Breanna Stewart led the Liberty with 19 points, while Jonquel Jones recorded 17 points and 10 rebounds. New York attempted to generate momentum during the third quarter, but Indiana never allowed the margin to fall below nine points.

Every Liberty push received a response.

Every defensive mistake was punished.

Every open three felt inevitable.

The victory improved Indiana to 21–12 and gave the Fever their seventh win in nine games. It also marked their second decisive home victory over New York in less than a month. Indiana defeated the Liberty 108–88 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 18, giving the Fever a combined 34 point advantage across the two meetings.

New York still carries the reputation of a championship contender. Indiana is beginning to demonstrate that reputation alone will not survive a trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The Fever are playing faster, shooting with confidence and finding contributions throughout the lineup. When Mitchell is scoring efficiently, Clark is controlling the game and Boston is anchoring the interior, Indiana possesses an offensive combination capable of overwhelming any opponent in the league.

Tuesday night was another example.

The Fever did not escape with a victory.

They delivered a warning.

Indiana is no longer trying to prove that it belongs among the contenders.

The Fever are becoming one.
